VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
Murrieta National Little League is an ALL-volunteer organization. We rely solely on a devoted legion of volunteers to help ensure that the organization remains structured and runs smoothly. We are always looking for responsible and enthusiastic individuals to support our league and your player's team.
To have a successful season, it is essential that all parents of registered players get involved and support Murrieta National Little League. Every volunteer contribution helps! Below are the key volunteer positions that are essential to having a fun and successful season. Please consider offering as much time as you can to volunteer and be a part of your child's winning team!

Volunteer Position Descriptions:
Team Manager or Assistant Coach
Being a manager or coach requires time, patience, and basic knowledge of the game of baseball. Each team has a manager and up to two rostered coaches. Team managers and coaches will also be required to attend off season meetings and instructional sessions, including Rules and Safety meetings and Coaching Clinics. Team managers and coaches, in conjunction with the website notices, will communicate with the parents/guardians of your players to inform them of any schedule changes, rainouts, and Little League events and activities. As a manager or coach, you have more interaction with young people than anyone else in Little League. Therefore, it is important that you understand the goals and virtues of the Little League program in order to effectively communicate them to your players. This position is required to have a background check and safety training.
Scorekeeper
MNLL utilizes Game Changer as the official scorekeeping app. Every team, Double A and above needs capable scorekeepers to record each game accurately in Game Changer. Each team needs more than one scorekeeper to ensure that there is at least one present at the start of and during every game. If you are new to scorekeeping or just new to Game Changer, this course will help you learn everything from setting up your lineup to scoring difficult plays and fixing mistakes. Please make sure to complete this course before signing up to scorekeeper.
Adult Umpire
Aside from calling ball or strike, safe or out, trained league umpires are responsible for teaching players good sportsmanship and the rules of the game. Trained League umpires are also called upon to interpret rules and help settle minor disputes that may occur during games. The league attempts to recruit and train enough volunteer adult umpires to cover all AAU level and above games.
The adult umpire is critical to the operation of the league as this cadre of individuals becomes the foundation of a sound program. The adult umpires call the Leagues "Tournament of Champions" games and may be eligible for District/Regional Tournaments as well upon recommendation of the Chief Umpire.
This level will primarily work the AAA, Majors, Intermediate and 90’ level.
Before becoming a trained adult umpire, you will be required to participate in one 2 hour classroom session and one 4 hour on-field mechanics session, which are usually conducted during the two weeks prior to the start of the season.

Youth Umpire
Youth umpires are usually age 13 and older and will start on the Minor levels. However, youth umpires age 12 may begin if working games with a trained volunteer adult umpire. Training for Youth Umpires consists of one 2 hour classroom session and one 2 hour on-field session. These are usually conducted during the two weeks prior to the start of the season.
Team Parent
The Team Parent is a key volunteer who supports the team’s manager, coaches, and families throughout the season. Acting as a communication link between the league, the coaching staff, and parents, the Team Parent helps ensure that team activities run smoothly and that all families are informed and involved. This position is required to have a background check and safety training.
Team Volunteer
Team Volunteer's support the manager, coaches and team parent when needed on the field and/or in the dugout. This position is required to have a background check and safety training.
Board Member
Murrieta National Little League Board of Directors, are volunteer leaders responsible for helping oversee the operation, development, and integrity of the local Little League program. Board members work together to ensure a safe, fun, and positive baseball experience for all players, families, and volunteers in accordance with Little League International rules and regulations. This position is required to have a background check and safety training.
