Important 2020 Spring season update

Hello Murrieta National Little League ( MNLL) Families,

We would like to first start off by saying we hope everyone is safe and has been able to stay healthy during the lock down.

We know that it has been a while since our last update but like everyone else we have been patiently waiting for updates from Little League International (LLI), District 28 as well as the city of Murrieta, Riverside county and the State of California  in order to figure out what our options are for the completion of our Spring 2020 Season.

As many of you are aware, this afternoon LLI made an announcement that they have cancelled the tournaments for 2020. This means that there will be no LLWS or any other tournament that LLI has put on since 1947. LLI president Stephen Keener has recommended that our local leagues and district do what they can to put together a local season as well as local and district tournaments once our city, county and states allow it.  MNLL and District 28 fully intend to do so as soon as we are able to. This will include the possibility of doing so during the summer or into our fall season.

Yesterday  Dr. Kaiser, the Riverside County Public Health Officer extended the counties public health order to run until June 19th.  MNLL and other leagues will continue to work on possibilities to get the games in with a possible starting date near the June 19th order date. We are fully committed to completing our season. We have already been in contact with the city of Murrieta to be able to secure fields as well as our District Staff for possible tournament play.

Please keep in mind that we are still on hold for the time being and will have more updates as the June 19th date comes around. Things seem to change on a daily basis.

Our MNLL board will be holding a meeting this week and we will be sending out a few emails in the next few weeks in order to let everyone know what the plan is moving forward for our season. We will also be emailing out a survey via Google Forms that we will need everyone to please fill out as it will contain important questions that we will need answered in order for us to plan out our season.

The MNLL board will also be working on having answers to some of the questions that you may have. Some of the items we are currently working on are: fundraiser, pictures, trophies and yes even possible partial refunds. Currently our policy states that refunds need to be requested by Jan 18th. We are fully aware that this is a special circumstance and we will take requests as they come in. As mentioned before we still plan on completing our spring season. In the event that our season is completely cancelled, our Board will meet to discuss refunds at that point.

We appreciate all of our families being patient with us during this unexpected time and we ask that you will continue the season with us once we are able. Players who drop once we start will negatively impact other players of your team and could essentially result in that team not having enough players to play their season.

As the situation continues to develop, we will do our best to continue to keep you informed via email, our league website, and our Facebook page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]
Thank you,
MNLL Board of Directors
